'Very friendly staff as well as very friendly patrons. This is a family-friendly resort and inappropriate behavior is not allowed. It is a place for ‘normal’ people that don’t like to wear clothes. It is a great choice for “first-timers”. We will be returning in the future' – Dave from Michigan
'100% Love This Place! Great grounds and people.' – Raymond from Michigan
'We hadn’t been to TLR for at least 20 years and were delighted with the changes under the current ownership. The facilities were in great shape and the grounds in well maintained. We usually go during the week when it’s not crowded.
Likes:
– Clean restrooms
– Lots of showers
– Clean indoor pool
– Clean conversation pool w/showers
– Wide open space
– EZ check-in for daily visitors
– Friendly staff
Plenty of recreation available with shuffleboard, horseshoes, volleyball, tennis, mini golf and grassy areas for portable games (i.e. cornhole frisbee or croquet). Indoor rec area with tables for board games or cards and table tennis.
Slight downers: VERY slight!
The “beach” needs some help. The water is often overrun with natural vegetation and the bottom is very soggy. This area is fed by a the larger Turtle Lake which is for textiles. The beach area needs a lined bottom and more sand. Even aeration might clean up the water a bit. It’s a lake… not a treated pool, but it would be better. . .and I suppose the D.N.R. has a lot of say on what is allowed. I don’t know if the water quality is checked on a regular basis for waterborne bacteria like e-coli.
Trees: More shade trees are needed in the grassy area between the beach and the access road. Even a few covered decks would be an improvement. Not everyone can be in the sun 10 hours a day. We usually pitch a 10 x 10 pop-up canopy.
Marked hiking trails: The leased areas are off limits to daily guests unless invited by a member. I am unaware of any actual marked walking trails within the common areas. Many of the seasonal residents get around on their own bikes and golf carts.
Food: Understandably, there is no food service on weekdays. There isn’t enough profit to run a grill on lower attendance days. So. . .BYO food and refreshments. Sometimes half the fun is ‘roughing it” with sandwiches, veggies and chips! Sometimes just running around naked makes you forget about getting hungry!
Lodging: What this place could use are some “bare minimum” lodging structures. Mini cottages with just enough space for eating and sleeping, like a glorified tent. Maybe even a tiny home rental area.
Mini golf: The coarse needs some serious upgrades. The green is wearing thin and the surface is very lumpy.
I realize a lot of these improvements cost $$$$$ but better facilities draw more clientele. A big problem at most nudist resorts is bringing in younger people. If anyone has any ideas, please contact the resort operators. Don’t get any wild party ideas, this is a family oriented resort.
All-in-all TLR is a wonderful facility. First timers are comfortable in the environment. Each resort we’ve ever visited is unique in it’s own way. TLR is very close to nailing down having the best of what most naturists are looking for. If you’ve never been to a nudist resort, please consider TLR as your first nude recreation adventure. With everybody else naked, you’ll fit right in and you’ll wonder what took you so long!' – Charlie from Michigan
'I’ve been to TLNR several times but not for at least 18 years prior to 2015. Many improvements since then and it is truly one of the best nudist resorts in the Midwest. The atmosphere is friendly and you’re never crowded. There’s plenty of open space but could use more shade trees between the beach and the the clubhouse. We visited 3 times in 2015 and would have gone back till the end of September if not for a job commitment. We, (I and we) have been to at least a dozen nudist resorts in our lifetimes, but TLNR stands out in cleanliness and facilities. The beach lake still has that soggy bottom and would be nice if it could be dredged every so often. otherwise, we swim indoors or soak in the conversation pool. If you’re a first timer or a seasoned nudist, TLNR is perfect for all.' – Clifford from Indiana
'The people are very friendly. They have a new outdoor pool that is fabulous. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunshine.' – Tammy from Michigan
'Very nice resort with friendly people. Even though I am a single male, I felt welcomed and everyone was very nice. I enjoyed the pool and I spent one night in my tent. I am a smoker, and there were plenty of places to smoke without infringing on any non-smokers. Overall, it was a first class experience.' – Doug from Michigan

'We were members of Nudist New Hampshire for a couple of years and have been nudist minded for several years! We checked out most of the 5 resorts in Michigan and found Turtle Lake was very friendly and up to standard! Going for a second visit next week. That should tell you something! But one must remember they (Turtle Lake) are about nudity only for the most part, but their were a couple of places in the Michigan Area I will not name that tended to be more about the lifestyle swinging. So check it out before getting a full membership! But for purest, we enjoyed the non-pressure environment we experienced at the 3 named clubs/resorts, they were what they said … for the pure nudist at heart!' – Steve from Michigan
'First timers…felt like we had known the folks for years…Extremely engaging people! We had a blast!!!! So much fun dancing both nights. Hard to go back to the bind—I mean grind. Had to remember not to strip down in the “real” world. Recommending it to everyone who owns sunscreen! Really can’t say enough. Wish we could have stayed longer because now summer is over… 🙁 ' – Renee from Michigan
'Nice group. Looking forward to next visit. See you soon. No pun intended!' – Marv from Michigan
'I have been a nudist for many years and love the atmosphere and people at Turtle Lake Resort. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I like that they are open year-round, in this part of the country this is a plus. The pool and hot tub are always inviting during those cold Michigan winter times. I will go back again and again.' – Pamela from Michigan
'Turtle Lake Nudist Resort is a wonderful place to visit. While the facilities are not your Ritz-Carlton, or Marriott, they are very clean and very acceptable. You can visit this resort and be naked and not be seen, if you know what I mean, or you can join in the activities and meet some wonderful people who enjoy the freedom of not wearing there clothes. There is a sandy beach at the lakes edge, The club house has large pool and hot tub, and they even have a six hole golf course layed out with holes as long as 190 yards. I would recommend to anyone that this is the place to visit especially if your just beginning your nudist experience.' – Jim from Florida
'This is undoubtedly the best nudist resort in the midwest and open year-round besides! Trust me it’s fantastic!' – Ed from Michigan
